a little somethin'...

I was at a lovely luncheon the other day at a friend's house. We celebrated 4 February birthdays of some ladies in our neighborhood moms group.
I wanted to give each mom a little something.

I made these quick gift bags from the fabric stash. I tied each package in some satin blanket binding I picked up at a thrift shop at some time for about a nickel. Put one of my favorite indulgences inside, Mrs. Meyers geranium hand soap.
photocopied the fabric for matching gift cards...
and wella!
Quick, easy and inexpensive x 4.

Hope you are having a great Monday!

I've been pondering...

Lent begins one week from tomorrow...

I am thinking, planning and praying about what I will do personally as well what we will do as a family this year. I want this to be a good Lent. I want to grow closer to the Lord. I want my family to grow closer to the Lord.

When I have put myself aside and embraced this season fully, this gift of our faith fully, oh! how Glorious Easter morning has been.

So I continue to pray for wisdom. What am I willing to give up these 40 days... (or forever) as to make more room for God in my life...

Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.

we've been...

Pretending its not winter anymore...
Mmmm...still have some frozen berries in the freezer. This is a blackberry/strawberry smoothie.
Planting candy onions. the little one wanted to know why "they" couldn't come up with a healthier name for them. A reasonable question...
A walk to Grandma's this morning, it was 63 degrees here today. It was just a tease though...
The fish pond...
She found a feather and wanted to see if she could properly identify it in her pocket animal encyclopedia. Very much something I recall her big brother would have done at this age.
I am utterly amazed to observe her sense of wonder. A gift to behold.
We enjoyed lunch this afternoon on the pink picnic table outside.
We thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the delightful weather today.

that was then...

See the train swooshing by in this picture. That is how close my hotel room was to the railroad this weekend. This is taken from my window...

Ah well...It was clean and comfy and I didn't hear it between 12:30-5:00am, I must have slept through. For that I am grateful. We took a trip to Long Island for a family party. It was lovely!

We even took a quick trip to the beach Saturday morning. Here is the boardwalk along Long Beach, about 5 miles from where I spent the first 33 years of my life. This scene brings back memories of pushing the double stroller with my two little ones in tow (now 16.5 and 17.5). Oh, they were so cute! They got lots of attention, not just because they were so darn cute, but also because I suppose it was a strange sight to see such wee ones wearing two hearing aids each!
If I reach a bit further in my memory bank I can recall a wild and crazy 17 year old girl(me) running down to the water in her prom dress on prom night, with my friends not too far behind. It was on this very stretch of sand.

Oh the memories, I will treasure them always...
I hadn't been back there in quite a while, so it was a bit surreal, driving around the small town and seeing the strangely familiar sights.

It was nice to visit, but so good to be home...

Here are some random pictures taken in last weeks snow...

Have a great Monday!
