from the yard...

Peach blossoms...
\
Last year these vines were overflowing with beautiful grapes and over 1 weekend when we weren't looking, the birds picked them dry. Hopefully that will not let that happen this year.
Hubby has a new hobby. He is making these gourd birdhouses from last years garden. So pretty.
We got this bird bath at an auction recently. Our yard is quite a birdie resort, thanks to my husband. They can always find a meal here. Either in the bounty of the garden or in the many feeders that he always has filled for his feathered friends.
The letttuces are out of greenhouse and in the ground.
We have enjoyed several salads from the greenhouse already with the most tender lettuce.
We have rain here today. Its a good thing, we need it.

squeaky shoes...

My friend Beth and I met downtown the other afternoon and found ourselves at a really nice children's boutique called Bella Boo.
Where we found these adorable shoes that squeak like rubber ducks when she walks.

I know some people might wonder, why in the world would someone actually pay for shoes that squeak (like my sister-lol!)?
I don't mind the squeak, I think they are adorable!
I'll let you know if they get annoying. lol!

First time with one of these...
Big sister and friends were having one, so I caved.
All good things must come to an end.
Time to go in...

spring!

We went out to park to collect pinecones last evening. We use them in hubby's Christmas wreaths. Have to plan ahead you know...

We spotted about 25 deer and the girls were thrilled!
There are freshly plowed fields everywhere you go in Lancaster County these days. They are a welcome and beautiful sight.

How about this weather?!

The forecast said there will be two days in the 80's next week!

strawberry and spinach salad

This is a quick and yummy salad. I'm sorry I don't have an exact recipe.
baby spinach
sliced strawberries
For vinegrette:
2 T olive oil
1 T cider vinegar
 couple dashes paprika
couple dashes onion powder
bit of sugar
1/4 t salt
fresh ground black pepper
If I had them I would use some chopped green onion.
Whisk vinegrette well in big bowl,
add strawberries and spinach,
toss and serve.
If you want to throw a sliced hard boiled egg on there, it's a nice addition.
Sorry about the inexactness of the recipe. I am only precise with measurements when baking.
It's a fabulously sunny day here in Lancaster.
 Enjoy!

a bit of snow...

We are impressed that dd7 was able to make a snowman the size of her, with the little snow we got this morning.
Notice, she built him on the driveway-lol.

I don't know another child who goes through snow pants the way she does. Every year, it doesn't matter if I buy a better brand or not. She plays hard and goes right through the knees.
Hope you are having a great day!

Oh play-doh, I love you!!!
The very first thing to keep her attention for any significant time period.
I decided to bring the last dresser from my living room down to the space at Building Character. Here is another similarly painted one I thought I would keep for home. The other dresser sold in a day and half (yeah!) so this one will go down today to fill the space.
I really like the detail on this one.

The greenhouse is showing signs of life...

Hubby has a gazillion onion plants going.
There is nothing like fresh onions from the garden, oh yum, can't wait.
